I GUESS EVERYONE IS SITTING ON THEIR WALLETS BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL PUCKERED UP AFTER THE ELECTION.... 3 DAY SALE, THEN IT GOES BACK INTO THE CLOSET. IT'S NOW OR NEVER.
If youre looking for a cheap, trashed-out, rode hard and put away wet motorcycle jacket, youll need to look elsewhere. I hate to do it, but I have to liquidate some of my beloved vintage motorcycle jackets to help fund a new hot rod. Best of the bestmany are museum quality.
Not perfect, but then no 60-70 year old, pre-owned leather jacket is. If you know your vintage motorcycle jackets, you will recognize this as an iconic jacket.Buco's second design tag. The red and black checked inside wool liner is spectacular. The condition of this jacket is exceptional. You would look long and hard to find another in similar condition.
The size tag is present, but so faint it is unreadable. He recalls purchasing the jacket in the late'40s from his local Harley dealer. All of my jackets have been treated with Obenaufs Leather Oil (the best conditioner available for vintage leather jackets, in my opinionexpensive, but nothing else comes close). Jacket leather is very pliable and soft.
All zippers and snaps have been cleaned, and function as they should. All metal zipper pulls are intact--all appear original except for the right front pocket zip pull which has been replaced with a new vintage chain/ring pull. Distinctive single Buco chrome bars on the shoulder epaulettes. Jacket leather has only very slight color loss on the wear areas, such as the hemline and sleeve ends.
No odors, other than vintage leather. The main and front pocket zippers are Talons. The two rear pocket and the two sleeve/cuff zippers are Conmar. See the photos for condition.
Other than some creases and wrinkles, almost no age-related wear is evident. Noticeable flaws: 1 to be expected on a jacket of this vintage, there may be the odd loose thread; 2 there are a few loose/missing stiches on the base of the expandable bi-swing sections on the back--also a minor abrasion/rough section near the top of the right rear pocket zipper; 3 to be expected, a few holes or tears in the sleeve liner from wear at the bottom of the cuffs, more so on the left cuff (see last photo); 4 maybe a tiny odd leather blemish here or there, expected on a jacket of this vintage. I do my best to perform a thorough inspection and highlight any glaring imperfections, but recognize that this is not a new jacket. It is decades old and pre-owned. Please evaluate it on the totality of its overall condition, and request additional photos if there is any area of the jacket that is a concern.
I'm down to my last few jackets. Don't let this beauty slip away. You will not be disappointed with this jacket.
Its an exceptional, collection-worthy specimen. Shoulder seam-to-shoulder seam (across back): 19 3/4. Top of back collar-to-jacket bottom: 25 1/4. Thanks for looking and good luck.
